Welcome to Pride of Sound

Dear HC Community,

We are thrilled to introduce the "Pride of Sound," the official marching band of Henderson Collegiate High School. Our talented student musicians perform a diverse range of music from various genres and decades, showcasing their skills at numerous school and community events throughout the year. These experiences not only enhance their musical abilities but also prepare them for collegiate music ensembles.

The Pride of Sound has grown to approximately 70 members this year, becoming one of the most recognized high school marching bands in the Vance, Granville, and Warren County areas. Known for their energy-filled, charismatic, and thrilling performances, our band consistently strives for excellence. Each show is a testament to their dedication and talent, making the Pride of Sound a must-see at every performance.

The Pride of Sound Marching Band aims to highlight the exceptional talents of our students and demonstrate the vibrant spirit of Henderson Collegiate High School. Rooted in pride for our school and community, the band is committed to excellence in every performance.

We are excited for the year ahead and look forward to the incredible performances and achievements of the Pride of Sound. Thank you for your support and enthusiasm as we embark on another fantastic season of music and camaraderie. Let's make this year unforgettable!

Sincerely,

Jaylen Jefferson

2025-2026 Drum Major

The Pride of Sound is super excited to introduce our 2025-2026 Drum Major, Jaylen Jefferson of the Pride of 2026. When asked about leaving high school band and heading into college, this was his response:

“After graduating high school, I plan to attend North Carolina A&T State University and major in Architecture, with the goal of eventually becoming a project manager at a company in North Carolina. After college, I plan to serve in the Army for four or more years to further build on the discipline, leadership, and resilience that I currently have as a young man.

I have been a part of Pride of Sound for four years, and I can confidently say it has changed my life for the better. I experienced significant growth in my character, academics, and mental health. Watching those around me strive for greatness ignited a flame within me to do the same. These experiences sparked a sense of leadership I never knew I had, and that leadership has extended beyond the band setting into my everyday life. Through this growth, I have been able to clearly visualize where I want to be in the upcoming years.

To the future POS Drum Major, you earned this position for a reason. Your hard work and commitment to the band have been recognized, and they have sparked meaningful change. When things become challenging and moments feel discouraging, remind yourself that you have built the strongest version of yourself, and you elevated your former section to the level it stands at today. The beginning may be difficult, as you are now being thrown the unexpected. That responsibility is what will shape you into a stronger leader than you were before. The unexpected should not hold you back; it should be the driving force that builds your leadership into its strongest form.”
