Welcome to HC Athletics!

Dear Athletes and Families,

Welcome to another exciting year of Henderson Collegiate athletics! I am thrilled to welcome our returning and new athletes to our sports family. Our athletic programs are more than just opportunities to compete; they are extensions of our mission.

At Henderson Collegiate, we believe that athletics and academics go hand in hand. Our programs are designed to build humility, consistency, teamwork, and perseverance. These values are essential on the field, court, or track.

As we embark on this new school year, I encourage you to embrace the challenges ahead, both in your sports and studies. Through dedication, hard work, and a spirit of collaboration, you will not only achieve success in your athletic endeavors but also pave the way for academic and personal growth.

Let’s make this year one to remember! Go Pride!

Gym Rules and Expectations

We are thrilled to announce the opening of our brand-new gymnasium for our athletics season. As we begin hosting games and events in the new gym, we ask for your support in helping us maintain a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all spectators, players, and staff. To ensure everyone enjoys the experience, please review the following guidelines for fans and students attending after-school events.

  • Be Respectful and Positive – Cheer for our team, not against the other. Unsportsmanlike conduct, negative chants, or disrespect toward players, officials, or fans will not be tolerated.
  • Stay in Designated Areas – Students and spectators should remain in the bleachers or designated seating areas during games. The court and locker room areas are for athletes and coaches only. The middle school and high school campus will not be open to spectators or students during events and all must adhere to posted signage regarding off limit areas.
  • Keep It Clean – Dispose of trash properly and help us keep our new facility looking its best as concession food and drink will be allowed in the gymnasium.
  • Concessions - Concessions are available for purchase during events. Outside food and drinks are not permitted inside the building or gymnasium.
  • Follow Staff Directions – School staff and event administrators will be present to ensure safety. Please follow their guidance at all times.
  • Student Supervision – Students in grades K-8 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult throughout the event. An adult is defined as someone who is 18+ and not a K-12 student. High School students may attend events without an adult but must leave at regular dismissal times and come back for the event. High School students must be picked up within 10 minutes of the conclusion of any after school event. Late pickups may result in loss of attendance privileges for future events.
  • No Bags Allowed - Large bags and backpacks are not allowed inside the gymnasium. Small purses are permitted.
  • No Re-entry – Once a spectator leaves the gym, re-entry will not be permitted under any circumstances for security reasons.
  • Celebrate Safely – We encourage enthusiasm and school pride. Running, throwing objects, or entering the court before, during, or after the game is strictly prohibited.
  • Dress Code - All attire must be appropriate for a school-sponsored event. Clothing that is revealing, contains offensive language or images, or promotes alcohol, drugs, or violence is not permitted. We encourage HC students to rep their HC swag and students wearing HC swag will receive $1 off credit at concessions.

We are incredibly proud of this new addition to our campus and look forward to the memories, victories, and community moments that will happen here. Failure to follow the above gym rules and policies may result in being asked to leave and not allowed to attend future games. Thank you for helping us keep our gym a safe, fun, and respectful environment for everyone! Go Pride!

Mission & Athletic Pillars

Mission

The mission of Henderson Collegiate athletics is to instill within our student-athletes the character traits necessary to attend and graduate from the college of their choice and change the world. In conjunction with academic studies, athletes serve as a way to build humility, consistency, teamwork, and perseverance. While each of these characteristics are necessary on the athletic playing field, they are more necessary in the classroom, as Henderson Collegiate believes that academic achievement comes before any athletic outcome.

Athletic Pillars

The goals of the Henderson Collegiate Athletic Department is built on three pillars that align with the organizational model. These Pillars should be taken into account in how we approach each situation and the aim in developing student athletes.

Humble: Student Athletes should learn to approach athletics with a growth mindset. They should be aware of where they are in the process and understand where they want to go. They should be gracious in defeat just as they are in victory. Student Athletes should understand they are a representation of the greater Henderson Collegiate community and make sure they are representing that to the best of their ability. Coaches should facilitate an environment that mirrors this expectation. They should model the process and behaviors that are expected from all involved in the program.

Hungry: Student Athletes should learn and understand what it means to compete and not be fearful of competition. They should learn how to put forth their best effort each and every day. They should learn how to commit and have a desire to improve. Coaches should be facilitators of this pillar and hold student athletes accountable while encouraging them through thoughtful modeling of competition. They should help student athletes unlock their potential and encourage them to want to be the best they can.

Smart: Academics is the very core of Henderson Collegiate.  Student Athletes should understand they are students first and foremost and athletes second. Athletics should complement what they are doing in the classroom. Academic achievement is held in high regard over athletic performance. Student Athletes and Coaches should also become students of their game. They should view the court and field as a classroom where they can wonder about every facet of the game and celebrate their success and learn from failure.
