College Counseling
Welcome to College Counseling!
Dear Henderson Collegiate Students and Families,
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the Director of College Counseling at Henderson Collegiate. While I am stepping into this role for the first time, I am not new to our school family—I have proudly served at Henderson Collegiate for the past 14 years in a variety of capacities within the Middle School and most recently as the Founding Elementary School Principal. For the past nine years, I supported students and families as they began their HC journeys and watched our youngest students learn to read their first books, make their first friends, and dream their first big dreams about the future. I am honored to now have the opportunity to be on the other end of the spectrum and support our students so they can thrive not only in high school, but in the college admissions process and beyond.
At HC, our mission has always been to empower students with the character, academic skills, and love of learning necessary to not just reach college, but to thrive there and beyond. College counseling, to me, is about so much more than applications and deadlines, it is where our mission comes to life in the most personal way. It’s about listening to students’ stories, helping them discover who they are and what excites them, and finding the colleges and opportunities that will allow them to thrive. It’s about celebrating the moment they realize, “I can do this. College is for me.”
Our team is here to walk this road with every student and family, step by step. We will celebrate the big wins—acceptances, scholarships, and ringing the bell—but we’ll also be here for the late-night essay drafts, the tough decisions, and the moments when encouragement is needed most.
I am so proud to be part of this chapter of our student’s journey, and I cannot wait to see all the places our Pride will go. I look forward to partnering closely with our students, families, and staff as we embark on this exciting new chapter. Thank you for trusting me and our dedicated team of college counselors to support your family as we continue to climb the mountain to and through college—together.
Here’s to a year filled with growth, opportunities, and future dreams taking shape.
With love and PRIDE,
Ashley Johnson
